Coleg Morgannwg is a joint sponsor within the Building the Future Together project which aims to provide a comprehensive suite of options and interventions to develop the skills needed for learning and future employment, raise aspirations, and support the emotional and social needs of 11 – 19 yr olds in RCT.
The three year scheme offers intensive one to one support for those falling behind in numeracy and literacy as well as vocational training options for youngsters who find it difficult to learn through traditional academic learning. It will also provide a range of innovative activities such as motivational and emotional intelligence support to boost their confidence in learning.
Deputy Minister for Skills, John Griffiths, said “Building the Future Together will reach out to thousands of youngsters in Rhondda Cynon Taf, enabling them to feel confident about their learning choices. It is vital that we support young people to gain the right skills to enable them to succeed in a competitive jobs market and enter long-term employment leading to a more prosperous and healthy future”.
Coleg Morgannwg will aim to support over 500 participants in key interventions that include:-
- Additional-alternative curriculum
- Support for Basic Skills
- Summer Schools
- Financial and other resources to support motivation, confidence -building and work related activities to raise aspiration and achievements.
