The National Diploma in Creative Media Production is a 2-year, three A level equivalent course. This course is for those interested in pursuing a career in the Film and TV industries. During the course you will have the chance to try out a variety of production roles including Director, Producer, Cinematographer and Sound Designer before specialising in one area. You will work to produce documentaries, short films and television dramas, adverts and music videos using industry standard facilities and equipment.

Entry requirements

You will require at least one of the following: a BTEC First Diploma, (this would need to be in a related subject), or at least four GCSEs at grades A* - C. You will be invited to attend an interview.

What will I study?

The course is made up of eighteen units - five core units, which everyone takes, and specialist units. Core Units Research Techniques for the Media Industries; Pre-Production Techniques for the Media Industries; Production Management Project; Professional Brief and Critical Approaches to Media Products. Specialised Units include: Video Technology; Film Studies; Factual Programme Production for TV; Music Video Production; Advertisement Production for Television; Designing Indents for Television; Stop Motion Animation Production and Video Installation Work.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is through a number of practical and written assignments. All units are internally assessed and graded with an overall grading for the qualification awarded.

BTEC National Diplomas are valued by employers and Higher Education institutes, (universities and colleges). After successful completion of this course you could further your studies with a Degree course in areas such as Film Making & Directing.
