Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care & Welsh Baccalaureate

This is a 1-year introductory course in Health and Social Care leading to a BTEC Introductory Diploma. Successful completion may enable you to follow a higher-level professional/vocational course at the college. You will be expected to attend college for four days per week during which time you will concentrate on 6 units in Health and Social Care plus a minimum of four Key Skills at the appropriate level.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements needed but an interest in this vocational area is necessary. You will be invited to attend an informal interview.

What will I study?

The units you will study will include: Looking after Children, Working in Health & Social Care, Personal Effectiveness and Job Opportunities. For the Welsh Baccalaureate you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales ?fits in? with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed by continuous studies.

Career Opportunities & Progression

As a result of successful completion of the course you may gain entry to a higher level of study, eventually leading to job opportunities within the Health and Social Care sector. You may be able to find employment in a variety of settings such as: Nursery, Care Homes, Social Work, etc.
