Foundation Skills in Practical Skills

Course Outline

This 1-year course is aimed at students over 16 years of age. It provides opportunities to enhance your work skills through a Practical Skills Curriculum. You will also cover Health & Safety, Information Technology and Basic Skills.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for the course. You will be invited to attend an informal interview.

What will I study?

Following the Practical Skills Curriculum you will study an Introduction to Painting & Decorating, Introduction to Metal Craft and Health & Safety in a Workshop. The additional qualification options include the Certificate in Adult Literacy, Certificate in Adult Numeracy, Duke of Edinburgh?s Award, First Aid, Welsh Cultural Studies and Wider Key Skills.

How will I be assessed?

Your work will be assessed by a range of methods, including portfolios and examinations.

Career Opportunities & Progression

Following successful completion of this course you may progress to other higher level courses, the Life and Work Choices course or to employment.
