Fast Track course in IT part 1, First Steps in Information Technology (OCR)

Course Outline

This 1-year part-time course combines three stand alone qualifications giving you the opportunity to achieve the three qualifications in 1-year. You will have to successfully complete each course in turn to be able to progress onto the next, the courses are: First Steps in Information Technology (OCR), OCR Level 1 Certificate for IT Users (New CLAiT) and European Computer Driving License (ECDL) - Essentials (Level 1). The First Steps in Information Technology course is an ideal introduction to using a computer for beginners. It gives a basic introduction to the most popular computer packages. You will achieve Open College Network Certificates in Computer Software Applications.

Entry requirements

No previous qualifications are required for the First Steps Course.

What will I study?

You will study: Basic Word Processing; Basic Spreadsheets & Charts; Using the Internet.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is carried out through assignments, which are internally marked and externally moderated. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace and assessment will be carried out at appropriate intervals through out the course.
