Quite simply, a job with training. A modern Apprenticeship is a contractual partnership between an employer , an apprentice, Welsh Assembly Government and Coleg Morgannwg.
The employer undertakes to provide employment for the period of the apprenticeship, Coleg Morgannwg provides further education, training and on-site assessment, the apprentice works under the terms and conditions of the Company and the Modern Apprenticeship Agreement.
Modern Apprenticeships:
Modern Apprenticeships have been established as a quality choice for both employers and young people with the potential to achieve qualifications at NVQ Level 3.
The Modern Apprenticeship framework offers training to NVQ Level 3 and it also incorporates Key Skills and a Technical Certificate, which provides the underpinning knowledge for the NVQ Level 3.

We currently offer Modern Apprenticeship routes in the following vocational areas: Business Administration (through GE), Mechanical Engineering, Aircraft Engineering Maintenance and Plumbing.
Foundation Modern Apprenticeships:
Foundation Modern Apprenticeships have been established as a quality choice for both employers and young people with the potential to achieve qualifications at NVQ Level 2.
The Foundation Modern Apprenticeship framework offers training to NVQ Level 2 and it also incorporates Key Skills and a Technical Certificate, which provides the underpinning knowledge for the NVQ Level 2.

Selecting Modern Apprentices:
Employers may set their own criteria, Coleg Morgannwg can recruit on the employers behalf if they so wish. Alternatively, you may decide to identify your own apprentices (who may be existing employees in your company)
Entry Requirements:
Candidates possessing four GCSE passes at A, B or C, must have Maths/English, can access the Modern Apprenticeship.
Foundation Modern Apprenticeship:
Candidates who do not possess entry qualifications will be required to undertake an initial assessment before entering a Foundation Modern Apprenticeship.
