Coleg Morgannwg Engineering Apprentice has a Bright Future
A student from the Nantgarw campus at Coleg Morgannwg beat off 195 other entrants to scoop a top award in the EEF Wales Apprentice of the Year Awards. Christopher Russell was awarded the 2nd Year Apprentice of the Year Award at the ceremony held at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells.
Christopher is an apprentice at Robert Bosch. Adam Wilmot, Plant Manager said “This is an enormous achievement for such a young apprentice in Wales and it is a first for Bosch Cardiff. We had winners previously for South Wales. But winning in a national competition against larger organisations like Airbus, Corus and some of our original equipment customers is a great achievement”.
Guest speaker at the awards event Sir Alan Jones, chairman of SEMTA, the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies acknowledged the high standard of work being undertaken by apprentices in engineering industries in Wales.
